Words of compañera Aurora in the name of the CCRI, Selva Fronteriza zone in the Guadalupe Tepeyac community, October 14, 2017

Good afternoon, good evening, compañeros and compañeras of the National Indigenous Congress, Indigenous Governing Council and its spokeswoman, compañera Marichuy.

Compañero and compañera bases of support for the Zapatista Army for National Liberation of this Selva Fronteriza zone.

Brothers and sisters, compañeros and compañeras of the CNI who are part of this Selva Fronteriza zone.

Brothers and sisters, all of us who made the effort to arrive here so that we could meet as we never have before.

We believe that this is an historic and irreversible encounter, and we would therefore like to cordially welcome all of you.

Compañeros and compañeras of the National Indigenous Congress, compañeros and compañeras of the Indigenous Governing Council. Compañera María de Jesús Patricio Martínez, spokeswoman for the Indigenous Governing Council.

Today we would like to tell you that we compañero and compañera bases of support have been working with affection, love, and hope to be able to offer to you what you see here before you. This infrastructure was built with the strength of our compañero and compañera bases of support, along with that of the compañeros who are part of the CNI in this zone and other brothers and sisters who collaborated to build and to offer to you all and to share our happiness, this space where you can rest for a while. We hope that you feel happy and as we share with you all these humble spaces, please feel as though you’re at home; we were waiting for you here with open arms. We would like to sincerely thank you for this historic meeting of originary peoples and peasants from the country and the city.

We are proud of all of you and of all those of us who, for the first time in the history of the originary peoples, have been able to encounter each other as what we are: originary peoples with our cultures, wisdom and intelligence, because for over 500 years we have been able to resist, in many ways, the exploiters and transnational capitalists.

That is why, compañeros and compañeras of the Indigenous Governing Council, the hour has arrived for all of us, country and city, to be represented by a compañera who will struggle for the Mexican people, which has never before happened in Mexico or in any part of the world. That is why our hearts are overjoyed to continue struggling for the life of the planet and the life of humanity.

Welcome, compañera María Jesús Patricio Martínez.

Welcome, compañeros of the Indigenous Governing Council.

Welcome, everyone, women and men to these rebel Zapatista lands.

From the Indigenous Clandestine Revolutionary Committee of this Selva Fronteriza zone.

Those are our words.

Many thanks.
14 October 2017.
