EJÉRCITO ZAPATISTA DE LIBERACIÓN NACIONAL
MÉXICO
May 25, 2006
To the people of the world
To the people of Mexico.
To the Adherents of the Zezta InternazionalCompañeras y Compañeros
We write to greet and tell you that many people from all over the world
know of your response to the repression suffered by our brothers and sister
of San Salvador Atenco and La Otra Campaña. We have always known of the
solidarity between the peoples from below, yet we were amazed and filled
with pride that we can count on all of those that are like us, that is to
say, rebel and with dignity.
On the 28 of this month we continue to make the call for peaceful
mobilizations to demand the freedom of our compañer@s imprisoned from
Atenco and justice for our compañeras who were raped and beaten.
Brothers and Sisters
That on that day we utilize once again the arms that we all possess: Our
voice and word. That on that day our voice and words become like a bomb
that reverberates against the bad governments. That they no longer silence
us, nor shall we keep silent. Today more than ever, we need to organize
ourselves and coordinate our different forms of struggle in order to defend
ourselves against the bad govenors, who like overseers of neoliberalism are
on the loose trying to domesticate us, in every direction of the continent.
This 28 of May let us come out to the peaceful mobilizations, let us yell,
write, and gather our fiery look to the rulers of México, who are our
target today.
Let the echoes of repudiation ring in the houses of those bad governments
all over the world.
Today our compañer@s imprisoned from Atenco and our compañeras
raped and
beaten need us.
We do not want or ask for this, but tomorrow or one day this could happen
to us. Because those monsters that do not think about their actions
continue to be present.
Because we are all Atenco, let us continue peaceful mobilizations with our
voice and words. These are our weapons.

From Temuco prison, Southern Chile. For Mapuche prisoners that re-initiated
a hunger strike this past weekend demanding immediate freedom and are in
serious condition. The brothers Jaime and Patricio Marileo, Juan Huenulao
and the activist Patricia Troncoso have memory loss and cannot hold a
continuous conversation. The four communal landowners were condemned in
2005 to 10 years prison and a fine of 820,000 dollars of indemnization to a
foreign forest company, accused of “terrorist arsen” in a judicial
process denounced for multiple irregularities during the procedure. The
hunger strikers situation is particularly grave given the more than 63 days
they have been on a total fast to demand their freedom and an annulment to
their jail sentence, handed down based on testimony from hooded witnesses
paid by the prosecutor. The compañeros and compañera on the hunger
strike make an urgent call for international mobilizations to demand the
immediate freedom of the compañer@s.
